On January 30, 2016 Kathmandu Don Bosco College invited Mr. Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, Regional Director of Microsoft and Country Director of Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) Nepal for a visiting class as a part of its series. He briefly shared on ‘Entrepreneurship and steps to be successful in life’ which was highly admired by the students.
Mr. Tuladhar highlighted the usefulness of technology, advancement of it at current stage. He forecasted the severe need of technical human resource with computer skills, by 2020. He also alerted the students about the misuse of technology that harms personal life and derail professional life in sophisticated and competitive business world.
Further Mr. Tuladhar stated that entrepreneur should have qualities and skills such as strong work ethics, visionary, strong leadership, achievement oriented, competitive alogn with communication skills. He coined the new term ‘innopreneurs’ and presented examples of world famous persons. Some examples were- Thomas Alva Edison, an inventor and businessman whose work has greatly influenced the life around the world, Graham Bell who invented telephone and helped the world to communicate with his misery that his wife and daughter were deaf to listen to the device that he invented, Akio Morita co- founder of Sony who revolutionized music industry through the walk man and tape cassettes. The other examples of innopreneurs that he gave were Wright brothers, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zukerberg and Narayan Krishnamurthi.
He also took the example of 5 successful Nepali business persons as the ideal entrepreneurs of Nepal. First person to be in his list was Mr. Umesh Shrestha whose contribution is providing an alternate to Darjeling and Deradhun education. He appreciated Mr. Min Bahadur Gurung for making Bhatbhateni a lifestyle. Mr. Karna Shakya, Mr. Shyam Kakshyapati and Ms. Laxmi Sharma were other names. Ms. Shrestha was the first tempo driver of Nepal. She now owns Laxmi handicraft which manufactures button.
Allen B. Tuladhar’s session was motivational as students were inspired. He had also quoted a famous saying by Thomas Edison-‘ I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work’.
