Management Accounting ( Credit 3 )
Course Objectives
The primary objective of this course is to provide the EMBA graduates with a sound understanding of the concepts of management accounting and applications of various management accounting tools and techniques in organizational planning, decision-making, and controlling.
Course Details
Unit I: Introduction
Management accounting, basic concepts, needs, and limitations, management vs. financial accounting; concept and classification of costs segregation and forecasting.
Unit II: Planning and Control
Basic concepts of budgeting, preparation of functional budget, financial budget, and master budget; flexible budgeting.
Unit III: Income Recognition
General concept of absorption costing and variable costing; the techniques and reconciliation of costing.
Unit IV: Cost Volume Profit (CVP) Analysis
Meaning and usage of CVP analysis; CVP analysis and applications, sales mix and CVP analysis.
Unit V: Decision Making
Make or buy, drop or continue a product line, accept or reject a special order, replacement of equipment.
