Human Resources Management ( Credit 3 )
Course Objectives
This course intends to provide with basic knowledge about human resources management theories and applications. Primarily, the course is focused to provide basic knowledge on human resources environment and issues governing human resources functions in organization.
Course Details
Unit I: Human Resources in Perspective
Human resources management as a key business management function; importance of HRM under globally competitive business environment; financial impact of human resources activities; the legal context of employment decisions; management of HR diversity at work; issues governing HR activities.
Unit II: Employment
Need of employment in organizations; analyzing work and planning; for people; principles and practices of recruitment and selection; issues governing the HR recruitment and selection; cost of employment.
Unit III: Development
Components of HR development; training needs assessment and planning; types of training; process of training; assessment of transfer of training skills; performance appraisal and feedback; career development; issues governing HR development function.
Unit IV: Compensation
Meaning, nature, and types of employee compensation; planning for direct and indirect pay and incentive systems; implementation and control of compensation system; issues governing compensation management.
Unit V: Human Resource Relations
Union representation and collective bargaining; procedural and legal justice and ethics in employee relations; safety, health, and employee assistance programs; issues governing HR relations activities in Organization.
