Research Methodology ( Credit 3 )
Course Objectives
This course aims to develop in graduates the depth understanding of research methodologies in terms of various techniques of review of literature, research approaches and designs, fielding of the study and data reduction and analysis for producing formal research report. This course also develops the analytical skills among the graduates by the help of empirical studies.
Course Details
Unit I: Introduction
Basic concepts of research, linkage of research with other disciplines; types of research; applying scientific thinking to management ; the research process; the research proposal; and ethics in business research.
Unit II: Research Design
Major research design strategies formulation of hypothesis, sampling techniques; design of various measurement and scales, strategies of controlling errors.
Unit III: Development and Collection
Sources of data; types of data expiration of secondary sources development of data collection tools conducting validity and reliability tests; administration of research survey, observation and experiments.
Unit IV: Data Reduction and Analysis
Editing coding, transcribing, tabulating, cross-tabulation, production of results, hypothesis testing, measures of association, and multivariate analysis.
Unit V: Writing Research Report
Paper formats, citation and referencing, presentation of facts, figure, and diagrams in the main text, components of a written report, and making oral presentation.
