Kathmandu Don Bosco College (KDBC), along with its strategic partner, Jobs Dynamics Pvt Ltd. organized an employment fair, ‘Job Mela’, on 24 August, 2013 at its college premises. The event was aimed at facilitating the graduates and present students of KDBC to explore employment opportunities and find suitable venue for career counseling.
Corporate houses of national and international reputation, namely Chaudhary Group, Sitoula Group, JD Group, Alpine Coffee, E-space Studio, Mars Pvt Ltd, Maidan Futsal, Podrej Steel & Iron Company & Jobs Dynamics Pvt. Ltd among other companies, participated in the fair.
Prof Dr Mana Prasad Wagley, Chairperson of KDBC, highlighted the need of skill-based learning, while the Principal of the college, Rabin K Acharya expressed the need to create employer council to impart employable skills to the students required by the employers. Likewise, speaking about the employment fair, Kapil Dev Regmi, Executive Director of KDBC, said “It’s our effort of bridging the gap between graduates and employers. We’ll continue to organize such fairs and make it a part of our educational program.
Anil K Thakur, General Manager of CG Group, applauded the college administration for setting a good trend to enable young students to explore opportunities in today’s competitive job market. He highlighted the need of human resource in every organization; and spotted the need to change attitude of employers to treat new entrants as infants; and also the new entrants should come with a learning attitude irrespective of their qualification.
Suman Maharjan, BBA final semester student of KDBC, who faced job interviews at the fair said, “I had never attended any job interview before. It was a great experience to face various job interviews within our college premises. I think such fairs not only boost students’ confidence, but also make job search convenient by bringing together job seekers and employers under one roof.
Similarly, Roshani Dhungana, MBA 4th semester student of KDBC said that getting the opportunity of interacting with officials of reputed companies not only boosted her confidence but also motivated her to further develop her skills.
JD Group’s General Manager Dhruv K Gera’s seminar on ‘Innovation and Creativity’ was a major attraction for the students at the fair. The success of the event has inspired the Board to make Job Mela an annual event.
